Futsal Rules - youth 5v5
Frisco Indoor
Conform to IFAB Laws of the Game unless otherwise stated:
Rosters:
- All teams competing in our Futsal League must be formed outside of our facility (Individual players will not be registered or placed on any teams competing in our league).
- A maximum of 12 players may be suited for any game.
- Dual-Rostering is allowed for up to 2 teams in the same division
- Players may register to play up, but cannot play down
- All players must have a signed parent waiver on file
- Teams may use up to 3 guest players per game. A player already rostered on two teams may not guest play for another team in the same division.
- Borrowing players from the opposing team results in a forfeit
SCHEDULING
- When submitting your Conflict Request Form, your team MUST be available for at least 3 weekends
- Withdrawing from the league after scheduling has begun will incur a $150 fee
game day Procedures
- Each player will need to check-in at the front desk to receive a wristband. Players will only need to check-in one time per day.
- Referees will verify that all players have wristbands before kickoff. Players without a wristband will be sent off the field until they receive one from the front desk.
- Referees may start the clock but will not allow kickoff until there are at least 5 players from each team
Player Membership
- Players must have a valid Player ID on their account to play. Guest players are also required to have a Player ID.
- Player IDs are $25 and last for one year. New Player IDs can be purchased online or from the front desk (Frisco).
Equipment
- A Standard size 3 Futsal Game Ball will be provided for each match.
- All players must have a same shade jersey as their team. Goalkeeper jerseys must differ from both teams.
- All players must wear shin guards that are covered by socks.
- Players will be sent off the field if they have a shin guard violation until they have the proper gear
- Flat-soled shoes only (no cleats or turf shoes).
- Soft casts permitted with referee approval.
- Hard casts are not permitted.
game forfeits
- 24-hour notice: $45 forfeit fee
- No-show: $60 fee
- Fees must be paid within 24 hours
Weather
- Our inclement weather policy can be found here
- Some instances of weather will result in changes to half duration or break frequency in outdoor games. These can be determined by League Director, facility staff, or referees.
GAME RULES
Game structure
- Matches are played 5v5, including one goalkeeper.
- The match will consist of two equal 23-minute halves, with a 3 minute break
- Free kicks may be direct or indirect.
- Sliding is allowed.
- No headers for U11 & under.
- Time extended for penalty kicks or required free kicks.
- Each game will have one referee. Referee fees are included in team fee.
kick-offs
- A minimum of 3 players present from at least one team is required for kickoff.
- Kick-offs occur at the start of each half and after goals.
- Referee whistle required.
- A goal may be scored directly.
Substitutions
- Unlimited, on-the-fly substitutions. Referees must be informed when the substitutions are being made.
- Players must enter and exit through the substitution zone.
- Incoming players may not enter until the outgoing player has fully exited.
- Improper substitutions result in an indirect free kick from the spot of the violation.
- Goalkeeper substitutions follow the same procedure.
- Each team’s substitution zone is on its defensive half and switches sides at halftime.
DISTANCE ON RESTARTS
- Defenders must maintain 5 meters on all restarts (kick-offs, kick-ins, corner kicks).
- Violations may result in an indirect free kick; repeated infractions may result in a yellow card.
Kick-ins
- Ball must be stationary on or behind the line
- Must be taken within 4 seconds.
- A goal cannot be scored directly.
- Improper kick-ins result in a change of possession.
- Tip: Spot the ball with the hand, not the foot.
Corner Kicks
- Ball must be stationary in the corner area.
- Must be taken within 4 seconds.
- A goal can be scored directly.
- Improper corner kicks result in a goal clearance.
- Tip: Spot the ball with the hand.
FOUR-SECOND RULE
- Applies to all restarts: kick-ins, corner kicks, goal clearances, kick-offs, and free kicks.
- Referee visibly counts (silent count on indirect free kicks).
- Failure to restart within 4 seconds results in an indirect free kick (exceptions apply for kick-ins and corner kicks).
PASS BACK RULE
- Once a goalkeeper plays the ball, it may not be passed back unless possession changes.
- Violation results in an indirect free kick from the spot of the infraction.
GOAL CLEARANCES
- Awarded when the attacking team last touches the ball before it crosses the goal line.
- Goalkeeper must restart with hands from their own half.
- A goal cannot be scored directly.
- Punts, drops kicks, and throws over half are permitted only when the ball is in play
- Throwing the ball directly into the goal is not permitted.
GOALKEEPER POSESSION
- Goalkeepers have 4 seconds to release the ball.
- No four-second count applies when the goalkeeper has possession in the attacking half.
Timeouts
- Each team receives one (1) one-minute timeout per half.
- Timeout may only be taken when the team has possession, and the ball is out of play.
FOULS & VIOLATIONS
sideline conduct
- Players, coaches, and fans must behave sportsmanlike.
- Coaches are responsible for fan behavior.
- League staff and referees may remove disruptive individuals.
- Games terminated due to misconduct may result in suspensions or expulsions.
Direct Free Kick Offenses
Awarded for careless, reckless, or excessive force actions including:
- Charging, jumping at, kicking, pushing, striking
- Tripping, tackling (slide tackling is permitted)
- Handball (except goalkeeper in penalty area)
- Holding, impeding with contact
- Spitting, biting, or throwing objects
All direct free kick offenses count as accumulated fouls.
Indirect free kick offenses
Includes:
- Dangerous play
- Obstruction without contact
- Dissent or abusive language
- Preventing goalkeeper distribution
- Illegal goalkeeper handling or pass-back violations
- Illegal substitutions
- Second touch on restarts
- Four-second violations
Indirect free kicks are taken from the spot of the infraction or from the edge of the penalty area if inside.
Accumulated fouls
- All direct free kick offenses count as accumulated fouls.
- After five (5) fouls in a half, each additional foul results in a direct free kick from the second penalty spot.
- Fouls reset at halftime.
misconduct
- Unsporting behavior, foul language, or arguing may result in technical fouls.
- Ejected players/coaches receive a minimum one-game suspension.
- Red-carded individuals must leave the court and bench area.
- Yellow cards do not accumulate across games.
Performance Indoor Training reserves the right to modify league rules at their discretion and will update the website accordingly in the best interest of our guests. The League Director will have the final decision on any suspensions, rule discrepancies, or controversial issues that may arise during or after play.
